The Voorhees Police Department initiated a new alert program several years ago.  It was designed and developed as a tool to help with important notifications to the community. This program is referred to as the "Community Alert Program" (CAP). We have the ability to generate and send alert messages to anyone who elects to participate in the program.  The public can participate by submitting their e-mail address to the police department.  E-mail addresses are compiled by residents, community organizations, businesses and schools.  Classifying the emails help us direct the alerts to those who will most benefit from the information.

The program is broken down to a minimum of three types of broadcasts:

General Alerts:

General alerts are sent to all participants and it would contain the latest detailed information as it is received by this department, whether it relates to any public safety alerts, safety bulletins or executive orders issued by the Federal, State or local governments.

Community Organization Alerts:

These alerts are stand-by notifications to groups or organizations within the community that may participate in a support role in case of any natural or man-made disasters. Organizations such as schools, hospitals, medical facilities, religious institutions, utility companies and any major employers within the township would be notified.

Point of Information Alerts:

General Information bulletins would be distributed as deemed vital and necessary by the police department.

Individuals or organizations requesting to participate in this program would be asked to e-mail an official request to the Voorhees Police at the CAP address: Info@vtpd.com.  We will ask that the email include the requestor's name, address and phone number. If anyone other than a private individual requests to participate in this program then the e-mail should also include the name of the organization and type of business it conducts.

Any information furnished will be strictly used for this program only and it will not be made available to anyone outside of the Voorhees Township Police Department.  It is important that the required information be furnished in order to authenticate the request.

Participants may, at any time, request to be excluded from this program.  At such time, all information assigned to the email will be deleted from the system.  You can simply opt out of the program by sending an email or by calling one of the officer listed below.

This is conceived to be a two-way alert system so if a participant has information that vital to public safety, then you are encourage to call the police department. As always, Voorhees Police Department is committed to better serving the community.
