The
HEADSMART Program involves the Voorhees Police interacting with
neighborhood children by giving them a reward for wearing their
helmets.
Since 2002,
Voorhees Police Officers on patrol, stop and talk to children who
are caught acting “HEADSMART” by wearing their helmets while
bicycling, skateboarding, or rollerblading.
The HEADSMART
program is presented each year to the four Voorhees Elementary
Schools, during a bike safety assembly, given by Voorhees Police
Officers. Since the beginning of the program, kids have been
rewarded with a free water ice coupon from either Rita’s or Diane’s,
both located in Voorhees. This year Passariello’s Pizza is offering
a reward of one free slice of cheese pizza, as they join the effort
to promote safety and encourage children 17 years and younger to
wear their helmets.
The Voorhees
Township Police would like to Thank Rita’s Water Ice, located on Rt.
561, Diane’s Water Ice, located on Evesham Ave. and presently
Passariello’s Pizza, located on Laurel Oak Rd. for joining our
efforts to encourage kids to be safe and obey the law.
