Suspected Meningitis Case
On the morning of March 30th, 2009, the
principle of Osage Elementary School in Voorhees Twp. was advised
that a student had been hospitalized over the weekend and may be
suffering from Meningitis. The school principle, Mrs. Young, was
contacted by the students parents. It is unknown whether the
suspected meningitis could be viral or bacterial.
At this time, the State and County Health
Departments have been advised of the situation and the school doctor
is also monitoring the student population. Notices were sent home
with the students of Osage Elementary School to advise the parents
to watch for symptoms and call the family doctor if the need arises.
Voorhees Middle School, where an older sibling of the affected
student attends, also sent home notices with the students. The
automated voice message system was also activated, to inform the
parents of the current situation.
