The Infrastructure within the police department includes the services of Telecommunications, Database Administration, Network services, and Web services. The Technology Unit provides telecommunications, equipment, installation, repairs, database administration, internet support services, network connectivity, server backups, web services and administration. The unit manages all aspects of storage requirements, data backups, network products and services. The Technology Unit, interprets, and evaluates the department’s network hardware and software requirements, and monitors the network 24 hours a day to ensure system availability and performance.

The Unit is also responsible for assuring information confidentiality, data integrity, and information security compliance, while simultaneously reducing security risk and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s business processes, infrastructure and computer operations. The Technology Unit plays a critical role in the development and design of its network and technological resources. 

The Technology Unit provides an integrated public safety information solution and integrated communications to address mission-critical public safety and security requirements. The unit supports the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), records management, mobile applications and mobile reporting technologies. The Technology Unit provides the Police Department with the ability to utilize the computer systems to dispatch resources, initiate, report and manage incidents around the clock.
