Captain April Herrington

Lt.-HerringtonCaptain Herrington is responsible for the overall supervision and management of personnel assigned to the Investigations Bureau. She reviews all cases and ensures that each investigation is properly followed up to its logical conclusion. Her duties also include conducting background investigations and the hiring of prospective sworn and civilian personnel. She oversees the Records Bureau and is responsible for collecting and managing the department’s data including the monthly Uniform Crime Report to the New Jersey State Police and OPRA.

Captain Herrington supervises the Firearms Unit, ensuring all officers are trained to be proficient with their issued duty weapons. She is also the department’s training coordinator and is responsible for maintaining all training standards for personnel in the department. This includes firearms, use of force, tactics, first aid and all in-service training.

Captain Herrington is a Firearms Instructor at the Camden County Police Academy and a Certified Hostage Negotiator. She had a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Rowan University and is a graduate from the FBI-LEEDS Program.
