VOORHEES TWP. NJ 5/21/16: At approximately 03:54 am Voorhees Police Units were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash in the area of State Highway Route 73 N/B and William Feather Drive. Investigation by police revealed the following:
A 2005 Toyota, operated by a Browns Mill, New Jersey resident, was traveling Northbound on State Highway Route 73 when it veered off the roadway striking a utility pole. Voorhees Police were on scene immediately and were subsequently informed by Emergency Medical Personnel that the operator, Christopher Gonzalez (34), had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
The crash investigation is still ongoing and being investigated by the Voorhees Police Traffic Unit. If anyone has information related to this crash please call the Voorhees Police at 856-428-5400.

Seat Belt Enforcement and Education Campaign to be Conducted Locally as Part of Nationwide
Click It or Ticket Mobilization May 23 – June 5, 2016
Voorhees — Law enforcement officers from the Voorhees Police Department will join with police from around the country in cracking down on unbuckled motorists and passengers as part of the national “Click it or Ticket” campaign.
Beginning May 23 and running through June 5, the annual “Click It or Ticket” national mobilization utilizes high visibility seat belt checkpoints and saturation patrols, in combination with local and national publicity efforts, to reiterate the life-saving value of seat belts.
“Using a seat belt is the simplest way for a driver and his or her passengers to protect themselves when traveling,” said Gary Poedubicky, Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. “In 2013, 21,000 people in the U.S. were killed in traffic crashes, and almost half of them were unrestrained.”
Poedubicky added that a key focus of this year’s campaign is to promote seat belt usage by adults in the rear seats of vehicles. The front seat belt usage rate in New Jersey currently stands at 91.36%. However, adults riding in rear seats are only buckling up at a rate of 39%. “This is a concern,” he said. “We need to drive home the message that all motor vehicle occupants need to buckle up during every trip, in every seating position.”
During the 2015 “Click it or Ticket” campaign, 372 New Jersey police agencies participated in the two-week initiative. As a result of the effort, law enforcement officers issued 26,308 seat belt citations, 4,969 speeding summonses and made 833 impaired driving arrests.
The two subjects pictured in the attached photos are wanted for questioning in reference to the criminal mischief offenses to at least five vehicles on Tenby Chase and William Feather Drives. The subjects were going door to door telling residents they were selling magazines. When refused, it is believed they began to vandalize vehicles in the area.

VOORHEES TWP. NJ 04/25/16; at approximately 1:11AM, Voorhees Police Sergeant Anthony Del Palazzo initiated a motor vehicle stop on County Highway Route 561 in the area of North Sunset Drive with a red Toyota sedan for motor vehicle violations. Subsequent Police investigation revealed the driver identified as Steven Jean-Louis (30) from the 100 block of Pennypacker Drive, Willingboro, NJ. Two passengers inside the vehicle were identified as Matthew Jean-Louis (24) from the 100 block of Pennypacker Drive, Willingboro, NJ and Tiasha Wallace (25) from the unit block of Winterberry Lane, Willingboro, NJ.
During the course of the stop and subsequent investigation, Officers located a loaded 9mm handgun, marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia. The occupants were each charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of controlled dangerous substance, possession of narcotic paraphernalia. In addition, Mr. Steven Jean-Louis was also charged with several motor vehicle violations including an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. All involved were remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail. This matter is pending in Superior Court in Camden, New Jersey.

Armed Robbery Press Release 4-11-16
VOORHEES TWP. NJ 4/10/16: The Voorhees Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying two suspects wanted for an armed robbery. The incident occurred Sunday, April 10th, 2016 at approximately 4:50am at the Valero gas station located at 129 Rt. 73 in Voorhees, NJ. Video surveillance shows the suspects pulling into the lot driving an unknown red four door vehicle (with a loud muffler), at which time, the driver exits pointing a handgun, demanding money from the station attendant. The second suspect remains seated in the passenger seat during the entire time of the armed robbery. After the attendant turns over the money, the armed suspect directs the attendant to the register booth where he proceeds to take money from the register. During this time, the suspect is seen striking the attendant’s head with his handgun. The suspect is then seen returning to his vehicle, fleeing S/B on State Highway Rt. 73.
The armed suspect is described as a male, possibly Caucasian, approximately 5’10” tall, clean shaven, wearing a black hooded jacket, black gloves, black Nike pants, and black shoes. The second suspect has only been described as a male.
